2012 Family Vacation

We have been thinking a lot about our next holiday trip after a very enjoyable and memorable Australia getaway. I have been to the US twice already but since I was mostly with hubby on meetings, I was not really able to explore a lot of places in that beautiful country yet. Of course it would be impossible to do that, but at least I would have loved to visit those touristy places that I only see on TV.

Well, I did not really consider those trips to be holidays, anyway. Those were more of business trips with some sightseeing on free times, of course. Although we have no definite schedule for our next family holiday, I have been surfing of possible vacation destinations in the US, in case we do get to go.
Firstly, I guess we have to decide first how our vacation would look like: would it be on a beach? Would it be somewhere up country where we could walk along riverbanks, enjoy canoeing, or would it be in a bustling city and get lost in a crowd of shoppers, and shop ‘til we drop?

I have not asked the kids yet but for sure they won’t be so keen on the shopping thing. The beach would probably top their choice! In that case, it would be good to check on holidays to Orlando 2012. What’s good about Orlando is that you could have access to one of the world’s best beaches, theme parks and yes--- Disneyworld! It sure is every kid’s dream destination… and it’s every kid –at- heart’s too, like me!

In the Southeast part of Florida is Miami, which is also an interesting city. It would not be hard to find luxury Miami holidays -- The city has great beaches, places to shop, and also with famous theme parks for the children to enjoy. I’d probably get so star-struck when I’d see famous Hollywood stars lying on the beach! The ever aspiring photographer me would surely turn into a paparazzi in no time.

So Florida 2012 holidays from the UK is really worth checking out. To visit this sunny city with the family would surely be one of the vacations we would never forget!

An Online Photography Course for Me?

Photography has always been my passion. In fact when I got my own DSLR, I just couldn’t stop clicking and composing subjects. My camera has already become a part of my wardrobe because whenever my family and I go out, I make sure that I always bring it with me. Now I have been thinking of enhancing and learning more about photography. But since my hands are full now, I couldn’t find time to go to school or to a photography class. Thankfully, most of the schools and universities now offer online classes and there are many online courses being offered. I hope that there are also online degree programs in photography because if they do, I would surely enroll (as long as my time and schedule permits).

I am glad that universities have already ventured into this to give chance to those who would want to go back to school and or finish a degree but just do not have the time to do so. Online degree programs are very convenient as students no longer have to be in school and yet can still work at the same time.

It can even help them save money because they don’t have to pay for board and lodging. What’s also good about it too is that many universities also offer Free application for federal student aid like that at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. So those deserving students will really have the opportunity to pursue their dreams of earning a degree.

One of the places to go while in Ranong is a cool tourist spot that is hot. Yeah, it's the Ranong Hot Spring. They have pools that you can dip your feet into. Hot springs do have health benefits. What is cool or hot about this tourist spot is that you can enter the place for free. The Thai government keeps it open for free for whoever want to spend time there.

Kruger Park's The Big Five - Buffalo

Another big on Kruger Park's the big five is a Buffalo. Buffalo are extremely adaptable animals, being able to occupy open grasslands, wooded savanna and thickets. Highly gregarious animals, buffalo associate in herds of up to 1000 or more individuals. Despite being very aggressive and extremely dangerous animals (more hunters are killed by buffaloes than any other animal), buffaloes are very peaceful amongst themselves.

US currency is currently going down. Canadian dollar has caught up. And so when my husband flew to Canada, we were a bit surprised with the increase of their currency.

I can't help but think that it is now high time to know where exactly we invest our money. I mean, yeah we can have so many options where to invest our money but I guess it is best to invest it in gold 401K. Don't you agree?

Anyways, to those who invested in gold IRA around 1970's, it is interesting to note that there's a substantial increase in the value of gold nowadays. In fact if you purchased 25,000$ worth of gold bullion, you could sell that for 524,999$ now. How exciting is that?

When my husband and I went to a jeweler shop and we told them I wanted to buy a gold chain for an investment, the sales person casually mentioned about 401K gold and how it is much much better to invest on it than the usual gold jewelry.

Makes me think that when I have money, probably i'll explore in investing in gold coins instead.

Old House

The house I am living in right now is old. By old, I mean it's almost ran down. The faucet is not only leaking water, it's also making that annoying noise. The curtain rail was broken.

The wooden tiles upstairs is picking off one by one. I wonder how much is Hardwood floor installation cost. When we came to this house, I only saw a few of them picked off. It would be good to do a house renovation but we are just renting this house. Maybe, after our two year-contract, we will find another house to move in. But it would be very hassle to move house again.

I can only sigh.

I am thinking of setting up a blog logo for my blog. But of course, before I could do that, I need a customized blog template first. All these I have been thinking for quite sometime now.

I have a friend that does web design logo if I want to. I'll just tick her and I know I can have it asap.

But like I said, for now, I need a good template. I just couldn't think of what design I want for my blog though.

Been Away

I have been away for quite some time now. My apologies. There were just too many things that are going on on my part of the world.

We went to Koh Lipe last week. And I was disgusted to see I didn't look nice in my two-piece swimsuit. I should have at least worked out on getting slimmer. I should have checked WonderSlim Coupons and get myself some of those get-me-slim-fast pills. LOL.

Anyways, above is the photo I took from Koh Lipe.That's from our cottage, overlooking the beach. I feel I didn't have enough time there. So yes, I am planning another trip there, this time, with my husband. And I hope, too, that this time, I would feel comfortable wearing my two-piece swimming suit!

My sister tagged me some photos she took in Hawaii. The sunset looks so beautiful I can't resist posting one here.

Someday, I will go to Hawaii to visit my sister. I will definitely take lots of photos so I can show more.

I also want to visit other islands. She actually lives in Waikiki. It would be nice to visit the surrounding islands.

My sister told me there are many things you can do while in Hawaii. You can do beach sports, kayaks, banana boat rides, para-sailing (will definitely try para-sailing one of these days in Malaysia), snorkeling, SCUBA diving and more.

Shopping would be great too. And I believe her because one of her photos was Forever 21 boutique store. LOL.

There are just so many things to do there.

Thinking of A Resort in Caribbean for my Next Holiday Destination

Last year my husband and I planned to go for an out of the country getaway with our family. Two years ago, in 2009, we went to Macau, Hong Kong, and China for our family getaway. We thought it was too much to do in a year, visiting 3 countries, considering all the expenses we had. So last year, in 2010, we went to Thailand only.

For 2011, we have booked our flights to Melbourne, Australia. And speaking of that, I really need to save some more money so we can enjoy our holiday without worrying about the finances.

Where will our 2012 holiday destination be? We haven't decided yet, but we are looking seriously at time in a a href="http://www.breezes.com/resorts/">resort in the caribbean. Why not, as beautiful as the place is, I guess it's no wonder a lot of people from all over the world flock to the Caribbean for holiday breaks.

I have Chinese neighbors. One early morning this week, ~~somebody knocked our door~~ rang the bell. When I opened the door, I saw my neighbor carrying this medium sized box. It was a box full of Mandarin oranges.

Kruger Park's The Big Five - Elephant

Hubby was lucky enough to see a couple of those that belong to the Big Five at the Kruger National Park in Johannesburg, South Africa. Elephant was one of those big five.

Imagine watching the sun set over the horizon whilst you capture the moment of a pride of lions stalking their prey.

Watching a buffalo strolling to a water hole with strength and size that makes it more likely to kill a human than any other mammal.

The rhino, which is almost extinct, with its extraordinary horns and bad temper. And the leopard with its beauty and remarkable speed and skill to hunt.

Many travellers regard a visit to South Africa as incomplete without having spotted, and perhaps photographed, the Big Five.

Exploring Self-Hosting

I just bought a domain from godaddy. And no, it's not for this blog, not just yet. But soon, I know that I'd be buying a domain for this one, too.

And so there, I really patted myself on the back to be able to know the ticks and the trade of buying a domain. Not that it's really hard to do. But I relied on a friend to do it for me before.

After I bought a domain, I tried transferring it to my self webhosting. It's another pat on the back. LOL. I used to do it last time then it got so complicated I left it to my self web hosting provider to do for me. But this time, I tried my hands on it again. And yes, I did it.

Now I have a couple of new domains. No, actually I have a few new domains.

Will I be able to host a webhost too? I am not too sure. I hope one day I'll learn how to do it. For now, let me enjoy my self webhost hosted by my friend.

Cool Weather in Subang Jaya

It has been a cool weather for us here in Subang Jaya for the past couple of weeks. It hasn't been raining though. And I kind of like it. It saves us a lot of electricity usage.

Why?

Because I don't need to turn my air conditioning unit on all the time. Now I just turn it on on bed time. Then run it for a few hours and it would be chilly the rest of the night.

And so the Ceiling Fan would come into the picture. I don't like to turn on the ceiling fan when the air con is on. It kind of irritate my skin (or me for that matter). But I don't have a problem when it's only Ceiling Fan that's working.

Home Address

My husband once said (we were not married then) that the best home address is his address. I thought about it and wondered. Then I realized that he was loving his place so much. It is so convenient and can get to important places and establishments in just a few minutes drive.

But you know when he said, my mind was already wandering, imagining some address plaques or address signs with his own address names on it. LOL. Silly me.

But really, I am glad that my husband would think of the convenience. Sometimes, people tend to forget their environment and community when it comes to purchasing houses.

And speaking of address and signs, wouldn't it be nice if you have the address plaques and numbers that would fit your house design? One of my neighbors has this beautiful classic (almost English cottage style) house and I thought their classic address sign goes well with their house too.

KL Central Lockers

There is just an extra benefit if terminals will have lockers. I am glad that KL (Kuala Lumpur) Central station has that extra facility where you can leave your luggage or stuff while waiting for your next trip. I was just reminded of this because when we traveled by train from Hatyai to Kuala Lumpur, we met fellow passengers (they're from Russia) who were going to Kuala Lumpur for a few days before heading out to Bali, Indonesia for their family trip. They had a place to stay in KL but they can only go there in the evening. We arrived KL in the morning. So they had a whole day to spare. And so while out touring KL, they left their stuff in the locker. It's really good especially for backpackers like them.

And so when I thought about it, I also thought it would be good for my son, who is going to Primary 1, to have his own school locker or gym locker. I am sure that their schools whould have school lockers, too, especially that they have to change into their sports uniform one of the week days. And what about the charges? I'm sure it's minimal since they're just for students. I guess there's lockers for sale available too.

Hubby tries to give me a bunch of flowers a month. It's a promise he made himself to do it when he gets married to the love of his life - that's what he told me. And so far, he's been keeping to that promise, with a miss a month or two. Last October, he was barely at home due to his trips abroad. So when he was in South Africa and sunflowers were in bloom, he took photo of this and sent to me, digitally.

I started this blog in an attempt to post daily photos of Subang Jaya, the town I live at in Malaysia. But later, I traveled a lot with my husband that I was tempted to post photos of our travel. So from Subang Jaya Daily, this blog has become Subang Jaya and Beyond. Why not? It's wonderful to share photos of where we've been, isn't it? By saying that, I am hoping that you are truly enjoying your visit here.

And so with this, I am thinking of getting my own domain for this blog. I have been using a self-hosting site for my other blogs but I am not sure if I spread my blogs on different web hosting, it will make a difference or it will just hassle things up. Or maybe, a managed hosting will do the trick?

At superb.net, they do offer services to small to medium businesses who are interested in web hosting. They do have colocation plans that would provide you with impenetrable security and incomparable network speed. If that doesn't interest you, I am not sure what will. :D

Anyways, I have yet to look into putting (if ever) a new domain to a new web hosting site. Let's see.

I have heard last time - about 10 to 12 years ago - that South Africa has the best sunset view in the world. It has indeed marked into my mind. And so when my husband went to South Africa, my number one request was to take photo of the sunset.

Nando's Peri Peri Chicken

Not so brave.

I always order this because I share with my kids.

I tried the extra hot (when kids decided to have something else)... but it's too hot for me. So I end up ordering lemon and herb.

I miss Nando's Peri Peri chicken. My husband has been away for almost 3 weeks now. That means, I haven't gone to Nando's for 3 weeks already. I guess the first to I want to be when hubby comes back is go to Subang Parade and order not quarter but half chicken peri peri and eat my heart out.

I am kind of tempted to do tutoring classes for K-12 or even for college students. My boy will be in Primary 1 next year and my girl will be in Pre-school 2. I will have more free time on my hands. This is another droplet shot I took from my garden. Droplet on birds of paradise flower is indeed my favorite subject to shoot. Oh well, that's the only plant that blooms in my garden for now. And it has been raining at nights so when I wake up in the mornings, I would usually see droplets like this hanging on the flower petals.

Birds of paradise plants don't need planters. But I have some other plants that are on the outdoor planters. I have some pvc type for my outddor planter and some are cement pots. Of course, if you ever need to get one of those, just check this website I saw at eplanters.com.

When my husband and I were still friends, he would usually tell me that the best address was his address. I didn't know exactly what he meant. I just thought probably he was giving me an indirect hint. Well, I didn't mind to live in his address, of course. Later on, I realized his love for his housing area. Real Estate

Our Schenker is going to primary school next school year (In Malaysia, they start school in January and end in November).
I know that we have to move to another house before the end of the year. The school that our son is going to is quite far from where we live. If we don't move to a nearer house, we would be needing to wake him up as early as 6 in the morning to get him to get ready for school. I think it's quite inconvenient for all of us as we are all night owls in the family, even with the alarm clock getting off in the morning, everybody seems to have a hard time getting up.

This is one good thing about not having our own house yet as we can still decide to move to another house for convenience. We do have an apartment but it's getting smaller for our getting bigger family, plus we have guests staying with us regularly. And so we decided to rent out our apartment so we can rent a house. It's a cool deal, right?

It's good to invest on your own property though. So no matter how much we think we don't need an apartment, we are keeping it for investment.

I guess it goes the same way as investing in Wilmington NC real estate where there's an offer of a favorable business climate, exceptional arts and cultural scene, deep-rooted history and beautiful beaches. Gosh, I really don't mind staying in a place like that. The owner and operator of Wilmington NC Real Estate is Century 21. They have been operating since 1987. I guess everybody has a dream car in some point in their lives. I have so many dream cars myself, depending on my mood. If I am so impatient and want things quick, I would dream to have a sports car. If I feel like being classy, I would dream of getting that c300. That c300 on the image above is the car my grandaunty drives in LA. She is so cool. Anyways, I am a dreamer so it's easy to dream of getting different cars. LOL.

While I was searching for cars, I found from the car connection a few cars that fancy my attention. The mazda mx-5 miata is a sports car and is known as the epitome of the classic roadster. Gotta love this one.

And if you have 5 kids or love driving people around, this acura mdx is the best for you. It's a seven-seater cross-over vehicle. Although it's a big car, it looks so sleek. One must on the lookout for it.

In the place where I live, security measures is so encouraged as to avoid any break ins and thefts. Every house must have at least a couple of locks just for a door. Some others have four locks. It's just to be sure that the houses are all safe from curious by-passers.

I guess it goes beyond saying. In order to be safe, one must use a good locker. I like going to the gym. A good gym locker would be helpful for me as I cannot bring my important stuff with me when I do exercises. There's nothing like protecting your belongings.

I have been thinking of investing nowadays. I am torn between two actually. I love photography but good cameras are very expensive. But then again, if I buy a good camera and put it into good use, maybe get into a photography business, probably it's worth an investment.

There are many ways you can invest though. You can buy gold bullion and keep it as an investment. Why would one invest on gold bullion? I guess if we look back, gold bullion had played a vital role in the commerce industry. I am sure it still does now. People do buy bullion because we know that it appreciates its value. One can't get wrong with it.

You can buy bullion at any time in any where and sell it too. Would I invest in gold? Maybe if I can afford to buy it. But I guess it doesn't hurt if I start on studying how it works. Maybe check their website for gold bullion buying guide. Who knows one day I'll get into this kind of investment.

We are back home from our Thailand trip. We visited the work among the Mokens in Ranong. Mokens are the sea gypsies that were affected by tsunami. There has been a developmental project since the tsunami in 2004. Things are indeed developing there.

Now we are back home. Back to our normal routine. Back to our normal work. My husband is also back to tutoring. He has missed a few days of tutoring when we were in Thailand.

I am thinking of buying a domain for this blog. If ever I do, I want this blog to have its own niche. Hmmm... what would it be like? A travel blog? A food blog? Or maybe a culture blog? I am still undecided. But I guess, I really have to migrate this blog to its own domain. I know there are a lot of benefits to it.

Koh Lipe, Thailand

I came back from my island breakaway with my sister and friend last week, feeling so relaxed and rejuvenated. We went to this beautiful island called Koh Lipe. Koh Lipe is small island in the Southern part of the Thai Andaman Sea.

Koh Lipe is part of the Tarutao National Marine Park and is directly south of the larger islands Ko Adang and Ko Rawi and about 50km from the island of Tarutao. It was settled by a band of sea gypsies originally from Malaysia, known as the 'Chao Lei' people or also known as Urak Lawoi. This island has four main beaches: Sunset beach, Sunrise beach, Karma Beach and Pattaya beach. Accommodation from grass huts to air-conditioned bungalows can be found on these beaches. It is possible to walk around the entire island in little over an hour.

I got this beef stake (as always, medium rare) and prawns from Ole Ole Bali in Solaris. It has a different taste to it... western meal Indonesia style. Different but not bad. Served with sweet corn and coleslaw.

Motorcycles

My boy has a thing for motorcycles. Since he was a toddler, he's been always fascinated with them. He would pretend to be driving around with motorcycles. Then he would see cops driving them. And so, one day, he said he wanted to be a policeman when he grows up so he could drive a motorcycle. Hmmm... kids and their ambition. I could just envision him in a cortech jacket.

Speaking of jackets, I discovered that there are many types of jacket that you could when driving a motorcycle. There's this scorpion jacket, fieldsheer jacket and some others. And you can actually get those from leatherup.com. Some jackets really look cool.

But anyways, there are a lot more of motorcycling gears that you might need if you're into motorcycling and you wanna look cool and authentic. There are boots, helmets (this is a must), and gloves. Leathered ones are the coolest, I think. But really, depending on your style and budget, you can easily get those. Oh.. there are also pants and chaps that you can consider buying. And if you're driving on rainy days, you can get motorcycle rain gear. How cool is that.

Now, back to my boy who is hoping that one day, he could really drive a motorcycle... I think that would take a lot of courage. Not from him... but from me as his mother. :D

Planning a Vacation

Yes, I am planning a vacation, online... sort of. Actually, I am taking my sister Jirah out of the country for her visa run. When she came here, she only got one month visa. Her visa is going to end soon. We are going to Thailand. Yey! I am excited for this trip not because this is going to be my first time. In fact, I've been to Thailand many times. What I'm excited about is that we're going to an island that I haven't been before.

And so I have been planning my trip online. I have searched about the island through wireless internet. This is the beauty of high technology. You can do everything at home. Book your hotel, wherever you are, at any time. You can also book your flights right at the comfort of your home. Gone are the days when you have to go and visit your travel agency just to do these two. And you can guess what I'm about to say next... pay unnecessary fees just to go on a holiday.

Have you tried eating western dishes, Indonesian style? I have, at Ole-Ole Bali at Solaris in Mont Kiara. The ambiance was good, food was great. It's good to taste beef steak with Indonesian flavor thrown in. It's worth going back there. Next time, we go back there w/o kids to fully enjoy the ambiance and the taste.

I have two travel blogs. I started my first when I knew that I was going to travel with my husband eventually. I created it under the free hosted platform. And then I started monetizing it. And I realized that it was better if I bought my own domain for that travel blog. And so I did, for 10US per year. I think that the webhosting was automatically provided by godaddy.

And after a couple of years of blogging on my own domain travel blog, I started a daily photo of Subang Jaya. I have started liking posting daily photos of Subang Jaya and posted a lot until I ran out of photos. And so, I decided to post photos of my travels outside Subang Jaya. Thus, Subang Jaya and Beyond.

Now, I've been thinking whether it's too soon to have it's own domain and self hosted at other web hosting provider? But of course, I need to search again on and see a few webhosting rating before deciding which provider to use. At webhostinggeeks.com, they have a list of reviews for web site hosting. Last week, we went to Melaka to do some children's program. Melaka is the historical city of Malaysia. It is a 2-hour drive away from where we live. Sorry, the photo is a bit messy but this is where the hubs does his tutoring classes. I have never seen any other place that urges students to take tuition classes than in Malaysia. Every student (read my lips: EVERY) student does have tuition classes. My husband teaches tuition, and he teaches Algebra or any other Mathematics subject. But my husband is away most of the time so he doesn't have a lot of students. Right now, he has one, which is a friend's daughter, who also doesn't mind having make up classes every now and then.

I am so in the mood for posting food photos. This time, let me take you to one of Malaysia's tradition: tea time. Malaysia has probably adapted this tradition from the British people. Tea time can vary from serving it with sandwiches or tarts. You can even serve it with cakes, cookies, or any other pastries. People enjoy it in between main meals. And of course, if you have a good tableware, it would make it much more special. :D

Bayswater Road

Beyond Subang Jaya: Bayswater Road, London

Parallel to this road is the famous Hyde Park where the Kensington Gardens is located. It is such a huge park. I have posted that it was autumn when we were in London. When we walked into the park, little did we know that the park was one Royal Park during Queen Victoria's Reign. It was awesome to discover another beautiful and historical places in London.

Bayswater is a kind of a high end area. But we were able to stay in a budget hostel for 12€ per night, breakfast included. That was really a good deal. We enjoyed London in a limited budget.

St. Katherine Docks

Beyond Subang Jaya: This is still part of my series for my London photos. St Katharine Docks, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, were one of the commercial docks serving London, on the north side of the river Thames just east (downstream) of the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. They were part of the Port of London, in the area now known as the Docklands, and are now a popular housing and leisure complex. We found this by accident when we visited the Tower Bridge (famously known as the London Bridge) and the London Tower. Hubby and I were just exploring. It was good then as we have discovered more historical places.

I love discovering places. It was so awesome that last year, we were able to go to many places for a holiday. Now I am wishing to go for Canary Island Holidays. At Late Deals, you can actually acquire holiday packages for late deals. Last year, when we went for holidays in different places, it was either autumn or winter. This time, if given a chance, I would opt for tropical vacation. Like what I said, I wish to go to Canary. It has a sub-tropical climate, astounding scenery and they have beautiful beaches as well.

Ahhhhh... when was the last time I laid down on a beach with sunglasses on and engrossed myself with a good book? I want it again, so badly. So I hope before the year ends I can go for another tropical holidays. And of course, with my whole family this time. I so want my kids to go with us again for our tropical holidays. I am pretty sure they will enjoy it coz they love playing in the sand and water.

Baja California, Mexico

This time, let me take you guys to Mexico. When we were in San Diego, California, our friends told us that you can drive to Mexico in 20 minutes. The next day, we went to Tijuana, had fish taco and drove to the Pacific Ocean coastal area. We drove to this place where they shot some of the scenes in Titanic.

Titanic Trivia -

20th Century Fox acquired 40 acres of waterfront south of Playas de Rosarito in Mexico and started building a brand new studio in May 31 1996. A 17 million gallon tank was built for the exterior of the reconstructed ship, providing 270 degrees of ocean view. The ship was built to full scale but production design removed redundant sections on the superstructure and the forward well deck so that it would fit the tank. The remaining sections were filled in digitally. The lifeboats and funnels were shrunk by 10%. While the boat deck and the A-deck were full working sets, the rest of the ship was steel plating. Contained within that was a 50 foot lifting platform for the ship to tilt during the sinking sequences, whilst towering above that was a 162 feet tall tower crane on 600 feet of railtrack. This was used as a construction, lighting and camera platform.

Chicken Adobo from TGI Friday's

So this is another version of chicken adobo. It's definitely not a Filipino style chicken adobo. When we went to TGI Friday's in Subang Parade with a friend, I saw this in the menu list - a new item, chicken adobo. I had a strong urge to try, thinking it was a chicken adobo Filipino style. But I was rather baffled when this came. It's a chicken adobo southwestern style/Spanish style. It's worth a try though. At least I now know there are different types of chicken adobo.

Autumn

I know it's not autumn season anymore. In fact, in places where there are 4 seasons, it's going towards spring already. I just posted this as a memory of me in an autumn season while in London. Truly loved it.

The photo was taken at Kensington Gardens. It used to be the Royalty Gardens. It's where Queen Victoria's palace was... And later, Princess Diana lived in the Palace in the area. Beautiful London.

Our Holidays in the UK

I just watched Sherlock Holmes and I was reminded of our holidays in the UK last year. It was very memorable for me for a few reasons: 1. It was my first time to set foot in Europe. 2. It was my first time to experience an autumn season. 3. It was a holiday for me and the hubby sans the kids.

We did a bit of tour. We went with a group of people with a tour guide first and the next day, we went on a tour on our own, explored London with just an oyster card, a map and places-to-see list I searched from the internet.

The internet has helped a lot in giving more information about the place, the best time to visit, food to eat, people's cultures, etc. And if you have that last minute holidays... you can surf the net where to go, hotel packages, etc. At Last Deals, they will surely take you to a lot of information regarding late holidays.

Universal Studios

Universal Studios, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. We did a Universal Studios tour and saw Wisteria Lane. I saw how the cars were blown up in Fast and Fury. Norman Bates was showing off how he murdered the lady... and was coming towards us with the knife in hand. It was scary. Sharks suddenly appear from the water as we crossed the river. I think it was from the movie Jaws. And of course, they were showing how fire was made up in the movie Backdraft. All these and more when you do the tour.

One of the things we did while in LA was tour around. Went to Hollywood and Highlands mall. Outside the mall was where the famous "Walk of Fame" was. Keanu Reeve's was the nearest. So I asked the hubs to take a photo. I took a photo of him and Sandra Bullock's star.

Here's a trivia I discovered when in the US. The plate numbers are all at the back. When we were in Atlanta and our friend lent us her car, we left the car in the parking lot outside Northpoint point. When we came out from the mall and looked for the car, we were looking for it by it's type, color and plate number. It took us awhile to locate the car. That's when we discovered that the plate numbers are only in front of the car and never at the back. LOL.

Another trivia: If you're in Dallas area and looking for Dallas auto repair shop, check out RepairPal first. They have a list of repair shops available in the area and if you contact them, they will give you independent and unbiased repair estimates. Of course, if you have Chevrolet Silverado and you want a good brake job for your car, just check them out. I have read that it's easy, accurate and best of all, FREE. Hmmm... now I wonder which shop my grand aunt sends her car to for repair. I hope she's doing a good decision coz nowadays, it's so hard to trust to send your car to the repair shops.

Cameron Highlands

On the way to Cameron Highlands, we spotted this great waterfall. Lata Iskandar.

Lata Iskandar is a series of waterfalls that you'll encounter about 15 km after Tapah along the trunk road to Cameron Highlands. While not directly within the Cameron Highlands, this waterfall is the most well known in the area due to its sheer size and magnificent drop. This majestic waterfall cascades for 25-meters down into a series of rock pools. Over the years, the landscape has changed somewhat due to erosion and the force of the waters hitting the rocks.
